The questions most frequent
Frequently Asked Questions, better known as FAQs, are literally the “frequently asked questions”; more precisely, they are a series of answers drafted in response to the questions that are most frequently asked.
Certifications/quality
Visual inspections, simply are the visual examination of “good cutting,” a check that is always made by the operators after the cut itself to detect any cut imperfection and the need for possible repair by welding.
The sheets must comply with a standard that regulates their flatness; during thermal cutting, some parts, depending on their shape, may deform. If required, we can do a specific inspection and straighten them within the tolerances set by the regulations.
After cutting we usually perform a spot check on the main dimensions of the parts, when required we can perform a check on all part’s dimensions or on dimensions considered critical.
Yes, all of Sidertaglio Lamiere’s plates is certified and supplied from major Italian and European steel mills.
For our oxycut and plasma cut products, we guarantee dimensional cutting tolerances according to UNI EN 9013 cl. B.
To ensure high quality standards on both raw material and cut pieces we perform:
Dimensional checks, Flatness checks, Visual checks.
Yes, in the case of special requests or sensitive uses, we rely on certified third-party.
a.
Yes, we perform, according to the EN10160 standard, ultrasonic inspections to check the internal integrity of the sheets and reveal any discontinuities within them, if the thick sheets come out of what is required by the standards, we can still find an agreement between the parties.
b.
We issue regular certification of controls performed in all classes S0,S1,S2,S3 / E1,E2,E3,E4.
Trade
No, if requested we can also deliver “chunks” of sheet metal for construction, particularly on big thicknesses.
Yes, in addition to cutting service we also trade wear resistant and high-strength plates.
Process
We cut only quarto plates, we cut coils only in exceptional cases.
We can provide heat-treated parts (e.g., normalization or stress relief) after cutting if agreed in order.
Construction sheets up to about 80mm are pre-sandblasted; for greater thicknesses, if necessary, the parts must be sandblasted after cutting.
We usually clean the pieces with a hand scraper so as to remove burrs from the cut itself, if required we can grind all cut edges.
Oxyfuel machining does not have this issue, while plasma cutting by its nature can have a rake angle cut of up to 4°.
The amount of overmachining is decided together with the customer based on the machining to be performed and the size and shape of the workpiece.
We cut structural quarto steel plates by oxycutting up to sp.650mm and cut by plasma cutting up to sp.40mm.
